Executive Elephant Management & Facility Design Course

After the great success of the First European Elephant Management School in the past years we often had requests of chief executives in the zoo business who were interested in comprehensive course on elephant management and elephant exhibit design. Therefore Hagenbeck has decided together with competent partners and the GB Hagenbeck ZooQuarium Company to offer a unique comprehensive course on all relevant elephant management topics.

The Executive Elephant Management & Facility Design Course is the first one of its kind and the lecturers are international experts in their fields. The course is orientating on participants who are executives in the zoo business and who are interested in the impact of the decision to keep and manage elephants. The curriculum will cover the following topics:

  • Marketing impact of a flagship species.
  • Leisure architecture and master planning.
  • Exhibit design to the benefit of the visitor and the animal.
  • Developing a philosophy for a successful
    elephant management program.

GB Hagenbeck GmbH – ZooQuarium Consulting:

The entirely privately-held Hagenbeck company looks back on over 150 years of tradition in creating innovative ideas in zoo design and has, since the early 2000’s, enlisted the support of Geising + Böker Architects: Geising + Böker was founded in 1978 and currently employs nearly 50 designers and engineers in Vechta and Hamburg.

The firm’s General Planning section specialises in leisure industry infrastructure. In other words, the design and organisation of locations that meet the requirements of two very important demands: on one hand the functional and business needs of the hosting party, i.e. facility operators, on the other the emotional needs and expectations of visitors.

After having successfully completed a couple of difficult exhibit projects, including the new elephant house and elephant pond in Tierpark Hagenbeck, Geising + Böker and Hagenbeck have decided to merge their diverse specialist fields and experiences into a comprehensive area of unique competence:
